Day 57: Block after block after block

Putting in the blocks. So I finally saw how they bring the blocks up to the roof. There's a truck that comes to deliver them and the guys unload the pile of blocks and drop them into place.

So Here's the drill...

The truck comes with stacks of blocks (made especially for the roof top)

You can see the guy in orange. He's controlling the crane with the wireless remote control that hangs on a belt.

Al final vi como suben los bloques al techo.

The crane operator finds the closest safe place to drop it. The guys help to guide it.

And then the crane goes back to the truck for more bricks. (FINALLY after 3 months, I figured out what that yellow thing on the plot was for. They are Brick tongs!)

Y al final aprendi (después de 57 días) que era la cosa amarilla en la obra. Siempre pensaba que era un tipo de escalera. pero no...son tenazas para bloques. Quien hubiera sabido?!

Then they place the blocks. They do this much faster than making the walls.

You would never guess that construction workers are agile. but seeing them trotting around the rooftop with only the small beams (that I'm not even sure are tied down) and a few blocks here and there (which are surely not secured in place) and carrying the heavy blocks...and without a harness...definitely agile, like a cat.

Nunca se imaginaria que albañiles son ágiles...Pero esos si! Trotan encima del techo como si fuera el campo poniendo los bloques.

And that is why they finish so quickly. They're like Speedy Gonzalez!

Y por eso terminan tan rápido....son como Speedy Gonzalez.

Wire mesh put in, tied down and everything!

Below you can see the 2 beams that will be integrated with the rooftop supports. Both studios will have 2 beams. Luis says they are stronger when they are done this way because they are seamlessly part of the entire roof structure.
