Day 46: Ready to Raise the Roof!

The guys were busy preparing everything for the roof. All the Forms that were used to cover the columns will be now going around the edges of the house to hold in the concrete to make the roof. (That's what I understood) ....I'm not really sure. I got there early thinking I could help but it was serious stuff and it was better I was out of the way...but because I came early, I didn't get to see too much done. Tomorrow, I'll go later.

They were reusing all the material that we took apart last week, re-cutting the wood to size for the roof (minus a few pieces that I took to make a frame for the handprints of the workers) Lots of numbers were being shouted out to each other. Two guys were at the top measuring what they needed and one guy was down in the living room with the saw cutting the wood to size. Tomorrow I'll stay longer to watch how they do it.

Hoy los chicos estaban montando las cosas para hacer el techo. Todo los materiales que hemos quitado de los columnas, ahora están poniendo para el techo. (menos unas piezas de madera para hacer el marco para los manos que he hecho mi primera día de trabajo)

I heard Luis say something about putting in 2 extra vigas that aren't in the drawing.... I don't know all the technicalities or vocabulary, but I think he's talking about beams. Anyway, tomorrow, if they're not too busy, I'll ask them to explain a little more what is going on.

This is from the wet room area. Esteban is standing where the staircase will be.

Mira el casco de Esteban, que bonita!

This is the beam in between the living room and the kitchen.

These are the edges around the house. (actually, I'm curious to see how they're going to do this roof business)

De verdad, no se como van a hacerlo. Debria preguntar mañana cuando los veo. Mañana ire un poco mas tarde para que puedo sacar photos de mas cosas...
