Day 40: Last Day before Easter
It's the last day before Easter long weekend. They guys tried to finish it all so that the cement truck could come and do it's last dump. But it looks like the truck didn't come. (actually, it could have come for a short while because I didn't get there until 11:30 and I didn't get a chance to ask them but I can't see up there and the floor looks quite clean, so I don't think they came. No big deal. They were close to finished. Let's check out the pictures.
Below are the pictures of the cement that was poured on Monday. They took the forms off today.
The wetroom area looking to the south.
This is the office.
This is looking from the wet room in through the kitchen window into the livingroom (where Luis is) to the right is the entrance to the pantry and the front entrance. (there will be a wall divinding the pantry and the entrance lobby...soon
This is the south window frame of the office and the bathroom doorway in the background.
a close up of the office entrance doorway and the bathroom in the background again.
East window of the office. If you look in the panoramic picture at the beginning of the blog, You can see Guzman knocking off the wood of the frame.
This is the west window of the workshop. Luis, my friend from Gran Tarajal came to see it and he suggested the window be a bit smaller. I think he's right. for a few reasons.
First, the opposite window on the east side is 3 blocks tall. so making it smaller would make it more symetrical.
Second, Luis says it would just be too hot in the summer with a window so big.
Third, there is plenty of light from the south windows.
The following are the columns and door frames that still need the concrete. You'll notice that Luis (contractor) put in extra rebars in the door frames here (the workshop) and the dance studio. He said he put them there because the roof will be quite heavy and this will reinforce the frame....(or something like that. maybe the other way around) These are not in the architectual plans but he says he likes to do it to make it stronger.
Here you can see the reinforced rebars in the dance studio window frame and Guzman standing tall while knocking the form off the newly cemented window frame in the office.
This is the east side of the workshop and the doorway to the tool room.
All the columns left to be filled. in the workshop.
Thats it folks! until next Monday (4 day weekend :) Happy Easter!)
