Day 37: Ready for the second round of cement
The cement trucks will be coming Monday. This will be the second of 3 trips to fill the columns and arches for the doorways and windows. Today was a special day because I got to work with the guys! It was so much fun. but first here are the pics of the frames. (I'm not sure if I got all of them)
Some of these pictures look distorted because i had to use the panoramic setting. Now that I have to be in the room to take the picture and i can't stand as far back as I need.
Today they also closed up the wall from the wet room to the back of the studio. but next week I will speak to Jose about cutting out a door to connect the wetroom to inside the studio.
Here's the wall.
This column below has blocks on 4 sides of it. I guess they put in the column before the closed it off. But I totally missed it. anyway, I tried to peek in to see...this is what I got
The workshop had the steel rebars put in also. I think those will be filled in on the 3rd trip. Gusman says on Tuesday they will teach me how to cover the columns in preparation for the cement! whooo hoo! ha haaa.
Ok, here are the pictures of me working. (forgive the crap quality of the pictures, my phone needs to be cleaned)
Filling the holes was fun. some of the holes were so big that the mortar just kept falling in. but we had the entire wheelbarrow. Esteban also showed me that I could take broken pieces of the blocks and use them to fill the hole before I patched it up.
Some of my patches are a bit too bumpy. (that's what I think, but the guys kepts giving me the thumbs up. I'll be better next week.)
We forgot to do the 2 spots on top. but we'll finish it once the door frames are done.
I did the bottom holes and Esteban filled the top. They said I did a good job :) That metal stick in the wall is there because it's stuck. The end is fatter than the hole and can't come out. so they will cut it later.
