Day 32: Column Tutorial

They guys know how much I want to learn about building the house. So they showed me how they tie in the steel rebars.

Let's start with the steel frames. These guys are going into all those columns that looked like empty holes. Then they get boarded up like the one in the background. Ready to be drowned in Cement.

So first the Bottom of the column is cleaned out (like we saw yesterday with the chisel and brush) Then they use a crowbar to bend the steel that is coming out of the ground in to the space so that nothing is sticking out.

Then comes the rebars. Esteban is showing us his strenght! Carrying all that steel with just one hand! ;)

And they place it into the space.

Once it's in place, they tie the tall rebar with the ones stickiing out of the ground. They tie it with thin wire.
