Day 26: Blocks, blocks and more blocks.

All I see now are walls of Concrete blocks. As I'm driving up to the land I feel like I'm coming to an apartment complex or something. But I need to have faith that once it is finished, it will be ok.

The old rock wall looks better and better as the blocks go up. There's something about the contrast of old and modern that I like.

Ok, now to the block stacking. It all speaks for itself. Blocks around the sewage tube is going up slowly but steadily. The guys are chisling the pieces so that they fit as close as possilbe to the pipe. You can see how it gets better as it goes up.

The guys were working really hard. They weren't rushing but they were not dilly dallying. They work working well together, with Gusman bringing all the stuff to them and the other two laying it out. If you come to the sight, you will even get a good feel of the guys. Working hard, in a good mood and all on the same page.

Even standing on this scaffolding, you can imagine how high these guys are lifting the blocks. They definately don't need to go to the gym like you and I.

This is the guest bathroom with the entrance to the livingroom on the right.

This is the guest bedroom. If you're reading this, this is where you will stay when you come to visit me;) the floor level comes up to the top of the first row of blocks...now you know how high the entire building is elevated. (a lot!)

North side of the house. The doorway by the grey water bucket is the entrance to my wetroom area and the back entrance to the house.

This is the window frame of the front entrance. I didn't realize how big it was, I like it! The most surprising thing at this stage for me is the windows. From the plans, you only see 2D. and now that I see the windows, It's like feeling a present before you open it. I kind of have an idea what it is, but don't really know what it looks like. I can't say I like them all and I'm totally second guessing some of my choices. But like I said, I'm crossing my fingers and trusting Jose made the best choices. There was a point in the planning process where I caught myself getting out of hand with window requests. So I stopped asking for more windows....I hope it wasn't a mistake.
