The walls are still rising. Luis said from here on the progress will slow down a bit becuase the walls are getting higher and as you can imagine, it will take longer to place blocks that are at a level higher than our heads. Having the walls up do make the space feel a bit smaller. Jose warned me about this. When the plot was just marked, I felt the space was perfect and now that the blocks are going up...I'm going into a bit of a panic. I guess I've been used to middle eastern houses where the rooms were huge. But I'm just going to have to trust Jose that I will feel better when the house is done.
Dance studio: you can see where the doors will slide open.

Here is the office next to the dance studio. The sliding doors are off set to the left. ( I just realized that Luis said the office space was supposed to be raised and that they were going to put another layer o f pvc...I'll have to ask tomorrow)

Here is Luis in action. He explained that most people leave the brick work as it is on the left. but to make the work better and more tidy, he goes over the cracks so that the wall is sealed better and smoother.

The concrete pillars will be set after the blocks are in. Luis says it fits in nicer this way and that the seal is better. Below is a wall that's finished.

This is the office again. The more I look at walls with no windows I begin to panic and worry if I should have put a window on that side of the wall or not....

This area is the back of the dance studio. It's where they are mixing the mortar to stick the blocks together.

There's a gigantic sieve in front of the cement mixer. it's the coolest thing. The guys shovel the sand and literally throw it at the screen and the fine sand flies through while the big chuncks stay out.

It was nice when the walls weren't up because they guys could work and chat. But once the walls go up, you can't see each other and then you feel like you're working alone.
