Day 10: marking the land

To prepare for the foundation, The guys measured and marked where the supporting columns will be. (I'm not sure if I got all the right terminology) They marked the position of the columns with little steel pegs. Then they tied green string to mark the walls. When they pour the cement, the pegs will stick out so that they know where to put in the columns. ( i know you can't see the pegs well in any of the pictures. Here's a close up but it was taken at sunset so the lighting was not ideal)

As I was walking "through" the house (by using the green string to show me where the walls will be I noticed the edge of the workshop wall. The land in the south east corner of the building isn't compressed. It looks like the tractors missed a spot.....I'll ask the contractor about this tomorrow.
